Keezhadi Excavations: Reclaiming Our Civilizational Story
When we talk about India’s history, too often we hear a story written by others, a story that says our civilization began only when outsiders arrived, or that our culture was borrowed from invaders. But Keezhadi, the archaeological site in Tamil Nadu, tells a very different story. Our true story.
The discoveries found were ancient drainage systems, brick structures, and Tamil-Brahmi inscriptions from over 2,600 years ago which show us that our ancestors were highly literate, urban, and thriving long before colonial myths said we were. Keezhadi is living proof of continuity: Tamil culture and Hindu civilization have always been deeply rooted, homegrown, and connected to one another.
Why does this matter? Because history shapes identity. If we are told that our civilization is fractured or second-hand, we lose pride in who we are. Keezhadi restores that pride. It shows that Hindu civilization is not only ancient but also continuous, unbroken, creative, and resilient.
Keezhadi is not just about artefacts. It is about truth. It is about seeing ourselves clearly and passing that confidence on to the next generation. Every Hindu should know this story because when we reclaim our history, we also reclaim our future.
